In year three of the Business Administration - Marketing program, students have the opportunity to compete in one of the most prestigious college marketing case competitions in Canada. The annual Scotiabank National Marketing Case Challenge invites over twenty-five colleges from across the country to compete in a business case study competition, where students have three hours to assess, analyze and provide recommendations to a business problem in front of a panel of professional judges. To prepare DC students for this event and for their future careers, a full semester course is dedicated to creating viable marketing plans for case studies in various industries. Five case studies in total will be evaluated throughout the semester, where a winning team is chosen to represent Durham College at the Scotiabank Marketing Case Challenge. The winning team goes on to further hone their skills over the course of five weeks, watching videos of past competitions, practicing timed three-hour case studies, and working one-on-one with industry professionals. This experiential learning opportunity is an educational highlight that students can add to their resumes and LinkedIn profiles, use in job interviews and take the skills and confidence gained and apply it to their future careers.
