There is a board range of terms used to capture experiential learning which often confuses discussions when talking with colleagues, students and industry. Durham College is moving to shared definitions to capture the depth and breath of experiential opportunities offered to learners. The benefits for shared terminology include:
- Reliable tracking of similar EL experiences
- Ease of EL categorization for government reporting requirements
- Transparency of learning opportunities for future students
- Shared understanding of EL learning expectations for current students
- Common language for front facing communications and internal discussions
