Experiential Learning is DC.

JES Access to Justice

The School of Justice and Emergency Services has partnered with the Durham Community Legal Clinic to create the Access to Justice Hub. The Hub consists of Durham College students from both the Paralegal and Mediation – Alternative Dispute Resolution programs, working full-time to provide legal and mediation services to residents of the community.  Students in these programs will practise Clinic Law, and also represent clients who do not qualify financially under the Legal Aid Ontario guidelines in the Small Claims and Provincial Offences Court. This experiential learning opportunity involves students actively gaining knowledge and reflecting deeply on their experiences.  Students develop a greater understanding of how they can apply learning through their time in the Hub, and to their future careers.
